Watercolor Artist Sikander

Sikander Singh is a freelance artist and lives in  Chandigarh. Sikander’s endeavour is mainly to capture the essence of a character through portraiture and to bring forth the nuances of the colours of nature in landscapes.  Recipient of many awards in annual art exhibitions. To name a few

  • Sujan Singh Memorial Awardfor outstanding performance (1998-99)
  • M.S. Randhawa Award (2002)
  • Swarchta Paul Memorial Award for best student of the year (2002)
  • Honoured by Mr. Amit Dhaka (I.A.S.) at award function organised by artist S. Amarjit Singh (2007)
  • Felicitated by Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi (Member Parliament) at Hamilton New Zealand (2009)
  • Honoured by Ross Roberston and Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi (Member Parliament) at Town hall, Papatoetoe, Auckland, New Zealand (2010)
  • Bagged 1st award in professional category at the painting competition ‘Chandigarh in April’ from  Hon’ble Governor of Punjab S. F. Rodrigues
  • Participated in the relief fund organised by Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi for Tsunami victims.
  • Performed as member of Youth group in Centre for Carnival Arts, Chandigarh.
Sikander trains students to appear for entrance exams of various prestigious art colleges, conducting workshops to make people understand the real value of art.
For him, art connects a person to the almighty and it is sacred for the analogous reason.
